1. What's in it for UserReport?

We use data to make market research. UserReport is a market research company.

This implies that we adhere to the strict ESOMAR-code, meaning that we under no circumstances make use of contact-information or other data to solicit goods and services to your users. We use data only for purposes of market research.

2. Do you make money by selling advertisements that appear to users?

No. UserReport is a market research company. We make our living by collecting data and analyzing data about traffic patterns etc. on the internet. We abide by the ESOMAR rules which is the tough ethical standard of the Market Research Community. Most importantly, this implies that we will not use individual level information to facilitate the selling of goods and services directly to those who have completed the Userreport survey.

3. Will users recieve the survey invitation multiple times?

No. Every time the invitation is shown, the systen places a ‘cookie’ in the user´s browser. This cookie registers the user’s response whether this is to participate or not to participate in the survey.

After the response has been registered, the user will be ’quarantined’ so that no invitations will be shown to this person/computer within the quarantine period.

The quarantine runs for three months or until the user deletes all cookies.

This system has proven to be incredibly effective in terms of avoiding user-fatigue.

You also control the frequency of how often you want to invite users to the survey.

Many websites are surveying a high percentage of their visitors. You can do that as well, but without being afraid to hassle your visitors – because we respect a ‘No, thanks’.

UserReport keeps track of those users who don’t want to participate in the survey. We do this using a mix of different browser and cookie technologies.

If a user has rejected to participate in the survey on any website using UserReport, he or she will NOT be invited to participate in another survey for at given period of time. The same goes for users who has already completed the survey.

By respecting the users’ choice in the first place, it is our experience that they will reward us with higher response rates in the long run.

Treat the users as you want to be treated yourself – that’s the filosophy of UserReport.

7. Who pays for prizes?

The respondents are invited to participate in monthly prize-draws, when they complete the survey. UserReport carries the cost of the prizes. The prizes include gift cards and the like.

8. How often should the survey run?

That depends on your needs. If you wish to be able to break down numbers across different demographics (such as sex, age etc.) you should make more interviews than in cases, where a broad overview of your site is the desired outcome. In many instances, we find that people continue to run an open low-frequency survey in order to keep continuously tracking web-site performance.
